Online Auctions: Becoming a Seller
by Evette Eleese
Don't procrastinate!
Get online and register with eBay and other online auction sites - most of
them offer free registration and the ongoing fees are negligible.
Get Familiar with Auctions!
Explore the various items for sale and read the basic tutorials. I recommend
starting with eBay, the leading auction site. They have comprehensive help
and the largest membership base. Get familiar with how auctions work in
general.
Don't Be Shy — Ask Questions!
Check out the chat rooms and discussion boards and ask others about their
experiences with online auctions. Businesses can get advice from other
businesses, individuals from other individuals. Don't just lurk — ask lots
of questions!

There's No Shortage of Information - Grab It All!
Take advantage of the many e-books (electronic versions of books) and online
tutorials, articles and informational sites to learn the insider knowledge
that will help you become successful.
Books can be found at local bookstores that cover basics and how-to
information. eBay has a list of recommended books on their website and video
tutorials as well.
Give Yourself a Head Start with Proven Sellers!
Start out by selling items that cost as little as possible and that sell
consistently on online auctions. They will bring in immediate and steady
income with little or no risk.
In my ebook "Make Money with Internet Auctions - a Proven Method", there is
an exact outline of what types of items to buy (items that have been
successful sellers). All of these items cost approximately $1-$5 at garage
sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and are commonly found.
Some people may find that they have special knowledge about items found at
garage sales, which are not mentioned in this ebook. This knowledge may give
them an advantage, and they will probably find success in selling them. I
suggest that people follow the guidelines in my ebook when starting out. Buy
and sell the items recommended, since they are proven to bring in a steady
income.
Meanwhile, they can dabble around with selling those items they have special
knowledge about, and become familiar with the market value of these items at
online auction sites like Ebay.
Consider a Website to Increase Sales
Although a website is not needed to get started with online auctions,
business owners should consider setting one up as their online sales
increase. This makes it possible for customers to quickly and easily find
the business online and become familiar with everything the business has to
offer - not just the online auction items. Many businesses sell very few
products in auctions but may do extremely well with sales that result from
visitors to their website from their auctions.
A case in point is, a used record store in Burbank uses online auctions to
promote their store and also supplement their profits by selling their
records to people all over the world with online auctions and from their
website.
Start Your Winning Strategies Now!
Businesses and individuals can't lose by using online auctions. The value of
the Internet and volume of people using it is expanding every day. One of
these days an Internet connection will be as commonplace as a telephone, and
that day is not very far off.
The World Wide Web is the tidal wave of the 21st Century, with online
auctions at the forefront of that wave. Online auctions are here to stay!
